Focus on Presentations and Workshops
This e-letter focuses on Denison Consulting’s recent presentations at
international conferences and a feature segment on Alexander Haig’s World
Business Review television series. We also would like to make you aware of
some upcoming workshops and conference presentations.
Denison Conference
Presentation Linking Culture to the Bottom Line
Denison Consulting presented at The Society for Industrial and
Organizational Psychology conference, (SIOP), on April 13th. in Toronto.
Daniel Denison and Bill Neale presented our four latest research studies
that show the relationship between the Denison Model and key performance
indicators, such as customer satisfaction, sales growth, and return of
shareholder’s equity.
Kari Lawry, HR Director of Pulte Homes, the United States’ leading
homebuilder, and Michael Beer from the Harvard Business School, played key
roles in the presentations. Kari presented on how Pulte Homes has used the
Denison Organizational Culture Survey and Denison Leadership Development
Survey to help improve Pulte’s customer satisfaction scores and turnover
rates and drive business results. Michael Beer was the Discussant, and
emphasized the importance of tying organizational culture and leadership
surveys to an organization’s overall business strategy and change process.
The dialogue and actions that result from the survey data hold the key to
overall business improvement. Michael stated that, “just because you stand
on the scale doesn’t mean you’ll lose weight.” (Unfortunately!!)

Center For Creative Leadership Denison
Presentation
The
Center for Creative Leadership also presented at the SIOP Conference on
Leadership Effectiveness and Organizational Culture. Carl Bryant and John
W. Fleenor, presented a paper investigating the relationship between
leadership effectiveness as measured by 360-degree ratings from their
Benchmark Survey and organizational culture, as measured by the Denison
Organizational Culture Survey. The Center for Creative Leadership’s initial
findings were that, in general, there are significant relationships between
ratings of individual leadership effectiveness and ratings of organizational
culture. Their findings suggest that a leader's ability to shape a culture
that is positively related to the organization’s bottom line is negatively
related to his or her tendency to demonstrate behaviors that lead to
derailment. CCL and Denison Consulting plan on continuing this research.
